Does Obama Really Want 4 More Years?

I know that sounds like a silly question but some of the things he and his people have been doing lately sure make me wonder how serious he really is about getting re-elected...

For example, he needs to fire up his support in the Latino Community. His political maneuver around part of the immigration law recently was a brilliant move to do that. So, if he is so determined to get re-elected, why did he follow that up by insulting the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials?

At a lunch where the President was speaking, the Secret Service required guests surrender their forks and knives before Obama would enter the room:

“It’s very important that you use your utensils as soon as possible,” National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials board member Raquel Regalado told about 1000 delegates at the group’s annual conference. Regalado hurried the diners to finish up their salads and pre-cut chicken breasts, saying that the Secret Service required that there be no knives at the tables and that the forks be rounded up before Obama entered the room.

“As you know, we’re having another speaker and there is some Secret Service involved. So there’s a reason why there’s no knives at your table and the forks will be collected. … And I’m not joking,” Regalado told the audience in a ballroom at Disney’s Contemporary Resort at Walt Disney World. “So, like the good Hispanic mother I’m here to tell you to please, eat your lunch.”

Wow, what a great way to win the community over -take the knives and forks away from the Hispanic looking guys before you will enter the room to talk to them.....  Is it just me, or does that sound kinda racist? Well, they're mostly Democrats so I guess it can't be...

Here is something else that makes you stop and wonder if the President and his staff have the sense to come in out of the rain:
It is impossible to dream up a rationale for it without sounding silly. The Obama Campaign is trying to fund-raise using Weddings, Birthdays and Anniversaries. No Joke. Look at this announcement:

I guess the first question is “Why”? Why should a wedding correlate with donating to the President? Is the President now trying to claim credit for every wedding officiated on his watch and say that we somehow owe him for making it possible (that would certainly explain his recent support of gay marriage)? If you divorce, does that mean you can ask for your money back? Why should anniversaries correlate to donating to his campaign? Why should birthdays? Why, why, why?

Oh, and did you notice that creepy “It’s a gift we can all enjoy” part, as though by giving money to the President, you’re giving a gift to the entire country? Talk about a crazy idea. No matter how much of a patriot you are, I doubt you want the entire country crashing your wedding party, asking for a gift they can “all enjoy.” It’s your anniversary/wedding/birthday, after all, not theirs. If you want a gravy bowl instead of four more years of gravy for the President and his people, that’s your right.

Live Long and Prosper....
