Ahmadinejad: "September 11 was a Big Lie"

The man who enjoys telling us that the Holocaust never happened has apparently decided that he needs something a little more shocking to get our attention. Now he has been quoted as saying that "September 11 was a big lie and a pretext for the war on terror and a prelude to invading Afghanistan."

Oh, yeah, right. The United States of America was just looking for an excuse to go halfway around the world and invade Afghanistan and exploit all those riches and natural resources. -And we were willing to blow up the 2 tallest buildings in New York and kill 3,000 Americans to do it...... geez

Of course, some of this may be 'sour grapes' on Ahmadinejads part. Last year, when he came to address the United Nations, he asked to visit the site of the World Trade Center bombings and was quickly informed that he was not welcome.

This entire thing would be nothing more than comical relief, until you remember that this is the same man that is enriching uranium and assuring us that the Iranians have no intention of using it to make a nuclear bomb. This is the same man that has used his military to suppress his own people and uses secret police in ways reminiscent of Hitlers Germany, Stalin's Russia and Hussein's Iraq. This is the same man that has announced that Israel should be wiped off the face of the earth.

This is not comical. This is scary stuff. Our government needs to pay close attention to this man because it is obvious that he actually believes his own propaganda and, when he is able, he will try to carry out his threats.

So far we have responded by dismissing and ignoring his rhetoric for the most part. This is unwise. Like any bully, he must be confronted on every occasion. He must be shown, through actions not words that the world will not, can not, tolerate his brand of extremism. Simply ignoring it or using ineffectual sanctions as a means of combating it amounts to noting more than pacification. History has shown us, over and over again, what pacification leads to. -And with nuclear weapons on the table, we can not afford to make that mistake again.

It is time to step up and make some hard choices. Actions at this point will be hard -but the consequences of inaction are too terrible to contemplate.
