Nancy Pelosi -A Showcase for All Things Bad in Politics

Representative Nancy Pelosi of San Fransisco, California, is the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the United States Congress. In that capacity she is the third person in line to be President, right after the Vice President. That makes her one of the most successful politicians of our time and, in my opinion, she is a perfect example of everything bad about that title.

If you go to her website you will find a document "A New Direction for America" in which she tells us how great the Democrats are and how they are going to bring America safely through these hard times. In an introduction to the document Nancy gives the following quote:
"With Integrity, civility and fiscal discipline, our New Direction for America will use common sense principles to address the aspirations and fulfill the hopes and dreams of all Americans. That is our promise to the American People."
I think that sounds great! I am almost ready to sign on --but first, let's just break that down a little and see what she means. Let's take a look at what she and the Democrats are actually doing to set the example.

  • Integrity- Upon being sworn in as Speaker of the House in 2006 Nancy said "This leadership team will create the most honest, most open, and most ethical Congress in history." In the time since Nancy said that, Democratic Representative Charles Rangle (NY) has had to step down from leadership of the House Ways and Means Committee due to "ethics indiscretions"; Democratic Representative Eric Massa (NY) has resigned for "inappropriate actions" with his male staffer; and there are investigations going on involving Jesse Jackson, Jr. (IL); Alan Mollohan (WV); Maxine Walters (CA); and Laura Richardson (CA). -That is the most ethical Congress in History? Really?
  • Civility-When asked at a news conference about Representative Alan Grayson's now famous "Die Quickly" remark, Nancy quipped: "If anybody is going to apologize, everyone should apologize. We are holding Democrats to a higher standard than their own members." How is that for an example of politeness and civility? But, that's understandable, this is, after all, the same Nancy Pelosi that recently stood in front of the cameras at a Tea Party and called the people participating "Nazis"!
  • Fiscal Discipline- The Democrats, under Obama and Pelosi, have taken the National Debt to new heights. According the the Washington Post on March 7, 2010, The Congressional Budget Office has said that the Democrats proposed budget would add much more than they are claiming. The CBO calculates the budget would add 9.7 Trillion dollars to the National Debt over the next decade. --And, to add insult to injury, this is once again the same Nancy Pelosi that said "PAYGO is a critical step on the path toward debt reduction and fiscal discipline" -And then, right after passing the PAYGO Bill, she supported a 10 Billion Dollar spending bill that they had not yet figured out how to pay for! -Unbelievable! -
  • As Speaker of the House, Nancy successfully got Congress to give her permission to use an Air Force jet when she travels on 'the countries business' - She uses that jet to commute between Washington and San Fransisco regularly, at a cost to the taxpayers of over $22,000.00 per hour.

Yesterday in a speech to the 2010 Legislative Conference for the National Association of Counties, Nancy talking about the Health Care Bill said:
"We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it, away from all of the controversy."
---Now I know from her previous treatment of the American public as a whole that she thinks we are stupid, but honestly: we have to pass the bill so we can find out what's in it? I do not think that I have ever heard a politician so blatantly and carelessly insult the American people!

Nancy is an example of everything bad we have come to know about politicians. She does not need to "wise up", she needs to go. We should not allow her hypocritical influence on Congress and we can not afford the risk of having her 3 heartbeats away from the presidency!
