Obama’s West Point Hypocrisy

The President made a speech to the graduating class of 2010 at the nation’s Military Academy, West Point. If you listened to it very carefully, you would have heard a good example of the misleading and double meaning rhetoric he has become so masterful at. Barack Obama is one of the most gifted orators of our time and he uses it to deftly skirt issues and purposefully mislead the American people. If he says something like “I will end excessive power consumption and escape confinement” he gets standing ovations from crowds of people who do not seem to realize that all he is saying that he turned out a light and left a room. Moreover, if he made a statement like that you can bet the truth is that he turned out the light and left the room to keep everyone from seeing what was in the room.

Let’s look at some of his speech at West Point and see what I mean. He said, "The international order we seek is one that can resolve the challenges of our times. Countering violent extremism and insurgency; stopping the spread of nuclear weapons and securing nuclear materials, combating a changing climate and sustaining global growth; helping countries feed themselves and care for their sick; preventing conflict and healing its wounds."

In reality, Obama's leadership has not countered violent terrorism and insurgency. We have seen a significant increase in violent terrorist attacks on American soil. Under President Obama’s watch there have now been 6 such attacks, just because the “Underwear Bomber” and the “Times Square Bomber” were unable to set off their intended explosives does not mean hundreds of American lives were not in peril. The President’s Administration should be held fully accountable for these repeated failures to detect and prevent such attacks. In both of those cases our intelligence services had numerous red flag opportunities that, had they been followed up on, would have stopped the attempts in their tracks.

As for stopping the spread of nuclear weapons, he has made it clear to Iran that he will do nothing to prevent them from getting them. He's even gone so far as attempting to muzzle Israel, who will suffer the greatest direct threat from a nuclear Iran.

Instead of exposing the false claims of the global warming propagandists, like Al Gore, who got caught by their own admissions in the lies, the cover-ups, and the inaccuracies they had promoted, Obama went before the American people and mocked any who did not hold the lies to be truth. He regularly continues to do this.

Instead of sustaining global growth, he has created policies that prop up companies that should have been allowed to correct on their own or fold up all together and actually worsened the outlook for the average American, the American markets, and by extension, the global economy.

Instead of helping other nations become self sufficient and responsible for their own laws and welfare, he has taken punitive action against our allies like Israel and Honduras. While at the same time has actually encouraged and sent assistance to dangerous nations including Syria, Yemen, Iran, and North Korea.

Later in his address Obama said, "America has not succeeded by stepping outside the currents of international cooperation... but by steering those currents in the direction of liberty and justice."

The President is obviously either ignorant of America's contribution to history, or he is being purposefully misrepresentative in such a statement. Stepping outside the currents of international cooperation is exactly what America has done on multiple occasions when we lead the charge to form new coalitions, and at times when we found it necessary to go it alone out of a resolve to do so because of the moral demands placed upon us as the greatest nation on this planet.

From the American Revolution to the liberation of Afghanistan and Iraq there were those among us that told us "not get involved" to "let the rest of the world deal with it." There have been constant calls requesting us to let the world manage itself because America could not be the world's police force. And yet, when those same nations fell at the hands of tyranny, despotism, and economic and religious enslavement - it was to us, the United States of America, that they turned.

Behind his mask of attempting to sound moderate, reasonable, clean and articulate lies a shadow of his true meaning. It may sound like one thing on the surface to most ears, but mean something completely different to the President himself.

Misguided or deceptive? Each of us needs to decide for themselves, but when he speaks, this President needs to be listened to carefully and should be called out and challenged before his policies lead to inevitable disaster.
