No Fly – No Guns

This is a good year to be a Republican. It looks as if the Grand Old Party will do some serious winning in the November mid-term elections. That is of course, if they can keep walking a chewing bubble gum without falling down (and there is no guarantee of that). I have to admit this pleases me in spite of the fact that I have not been too impressed with the Republicans recently or the last time they controlled the White House and the Congress. They have demonstrated a penchant for corruption and “politics as usual”, perhaps not as blatant as we have seen under Obama, Reid and Pelosi, but bad never-the-less.

There are a couple of issues where I think we need some real leadership, and quickly. Two are the situations with Iran and North Korea. These are areas that can degenerate into World War III if they are not handled right. I am fairly confident the Republicans have the backbone and the will to do what is right and necessary.

Another area is the border and immigration. Actually, I have no problem with immigration and feel that we will eventually come up with a reform that will handle the issue humanly and as fairly as possible. The issue of the Border is separate and worries me. The answer is simple, secure it and do it now. Unfortunately, for some reason I just can not fathom, neither political party seems to have the resolve to do this relatively simple task.

O.K., that brings me to a third area that is bothering me and is the real reason for this blog. It seems someone had a novel idea. People who are put on the “No-Fly” list because they may be terrorists or have terrorist sympathies or affiliations should not be able to buy guns or ammunition. Now, this idea seems like kind of a ‘no-brainer’ to me. "Yeah, you bet, I don’t think selling weapons to possible terrorists is too smart."

The interesting thing is that, when this was brought up at a Republican Debate (the California Senate race), the person suggesting it was heavily ridiculed by the other candidates, the press and even the NRA!

Paranoia --brought on by assaults on our 2nd Amendment rights by the left wing for all these years-- has destroyed some people’s ability to think clearly. You know what? In this case these people are absolutely out of their minds! Now, I support the Second Amendment, but not for people who may want to destroy this country and blow up innocent women and children. Some people (left wingers and 2nd Amendment protectionists) would permit the Christmas Day bomber and the guy who tried to blow up Times Square to buy guns! Does that make any sense to you? Let's put the security of this country and this nation first and always.

In case you did not quite understand what is bothering me, let me repeat this. We have people, including Senate candidates, who are against passing legislation that would make it illegal to sell guns to people on the Terrorist Watch and “No-Fly” Lists! I'm sorry, but this is the kind of "political correctness" gone crazy that just sets me off.

I just hope and pray that whomever gets elected in November, they will come out of their coma and realize how stupid opposing a bill like that really is.

Personal Note:
I will be gone the next 2 days at a round table discussion regarding Chinese Expansionism. I have written a couple of blogs which will post automatically but I may be slow in answering comments and emails for these 2 days. Please be patient. Thanks much,
By the way, today is National Pecan Pie Day...(hint)...
