Sniper: One Mile Kill

Warning:
Viewer Discretion is Advised

Good Marksmanship is an important skill in the military. It is not nearly as easy as it looks. The further way you can hit a target, the less likely it is that the target can hit you first. The military spends a great deal of time training soldiers in good marksmanship. Like any other talent, some people have more "natural" skill than others. Snipers are trained to hit targets from great distances, often hitting enemies long before they can attack our troops. It is a cold and brutal fact of combat and it saves the lives of our troops.

These videos (part 1 and part 2) are about one of the best snipers we have today. They show one of his missions in which he is in a position providing cover and security for one of our patrols. He observes insurgents getting ready to stage an ambush and he is able to prevent the attack by hitting several of them. The impressive part of this is that the distance he is firing from is 1 mile away and he is firing using a relatively new weapon designed specifically for this purpose. It fires a 50 caliber bullet!  This bullet is so powerful that even at a mile away it is still able to penetrate a concrete block wall the insurgents are hiding behind!
