After over 10years of exhaustive efforts to improve its schools, the United States posted these results in a new global survey of 15-year-old student achievement: Average in Reading, Average in Science and slightly Below Average in Math," reports the Washington Post. According to a report released by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, lots and lots of countries are smarter than us, and quite a few are dumber. Is this acceptable?
For once in his bureaucratic existence, Education Secretary Arne Duncan answers that question correctly: "Have we ever been satisfied as Americans being average in anything? Is that our aspiration? Our goal should be absolutely to lead the world in education." ----Should be? That's inspiring!

In other Obama-abandoning-his-policies news, the White House "has quietly granted even more waivers to the new federal health reform law, doubling the number in just the last three weeks to a new total of 222." These waivers exempt companies with limited-benefit health insurance policies from providing more coverage to their employees.
Among the organizations that no longer have to comply with the Democrats' authoritarian regulations are; Waffle House, Universal Studios of Orlando, and the Pearson Candy Company, as well as "Bricklayers Local 1 of MD, VA and DC, the United Food and Commercial Workers Union in Mount Laurel, New Jersey, the Indiana Teamsters Health Benefits Fund, and Service Employees International Union Local 1 Cleveland Welfare Fund."
See the unions aren't the only folks who are getting special treatment from the Obama Administration, just the majority of them.

I get so tired of the race card being played just to win an argument that is flawed in the first place . . .
Al Sharpton has called for the FCC to go after the stations that carry Rush Limbaugh, unsubtly implying that their licenses should be in jeopardy. The bottom line is that the left wants to find an excuse, any excuse, to grab the mike from a man who has wreaked so much havoc on their cause.

More than 1,000 North Koreans have been jailed for secretly watching South Korean TV shows and films as the communist regime battles an inflow of foreign culture, a Seoul-based defector group said Monday. About 1,200 people are in jail in the northwestern city of Kaechon for the offense. According to a source in the prison, which has a total 3,000 inmates.
Access to foreign pop culture is strictly banned for ordinary people in the isolated nation, with violators facing hefty fines or jail terms of between two and five years. Of course their fearless leader, the Supreme Sociopath, prides himself in the most extensive private collection of movies and entertainment media in the world.
