Retirement Age –older and older

The Washington Post had an interesting article which compared the retirement ages around the world. They ranged from 50 (for women in China) to 69. Most countries have set their government retirement ages at 65, with eight countries, including the United States, mandating higher ages for those retiring in the future.

Why are retirement ages going up? Because people are living longer now? No. It’s because the longer they make you wait to start your retirement, the less they have to pay you out of those Social Security and pension funds you have been paying into all your life. Do I sound cynical? Yes, I am. I hate it when lawmakers pee on your leg and try to tell you it’s raining.

Live Long and Prosper....
