If you have ever been there you have probably had a “Hurricane” from Pat O’Brien’s on Bourbon Street. It’s a New Orleans tradition and a great way to start your evening. I always start my visits there, listening to music in the piano bar or laughing and chatting with friends in the court yard.
While sitting, smiling over some happy memories of The French Quarter (also known as the “Vieux Carre”, or “Old Square” in French), I decided it was a good time to share the recipe for a Hurricane with you. That way you can enjoy a little flavor of the fun city right in your own home.
Ingredients
Ice cubes
2 ounces light rum
2 ounces dark rum
2 ounces passion fruit juice
2 ounces pineapple juice
1/2 lime, juiced
1 tablespoon grenadine
1 orange, sliced into wheels, for garnish
Directions
Fill the hurricane glasses with ice. Mix the rums, passion fruit juice, pineapple juice, lime juice, and grenadine in an ice filled shaker. Strain into the hurricane glasses. Garnish with a wheel of orange.
Now, say “Thank You, Gary” and go enjoy your evening.
Live Long and Prosper...
